How to attract ghosts so that you can have a first-hand paranormal experience? That’s a great question and one that I get asked a lot so I decided to create this post to give my readers and friends the best answer possible.
A lot of people go about this the wrong way. They treat ghosts like aliens, do weird things and literally creep the ghosts out.
Attracting ghosts doesn’t have to be complicated as long as you stick to a few of the principles that I outlined below.
Don’t Treat Them Like Aliens
One of the big mistakes that beginners commit is treating ghosts like aliens. They do have feelings too so you have to be considerate and imagine that you’re trying to communicate with a different person. Imagine it’s a foreigner who doesn’t speak your language and you try to find a way to communicate.
Communicating with the dead requires some empathy.
Treat Them with Respect
When you go to a location where you expect to attract a spirit then you should treat that very place with respect. You’re a guest there so imagining that you’re visiting someone’s house for the first time. You want to be on your best behaviour.
The fact that many people have such an ignorant approach is the reason why they fail to get a ghost to show itself.
Patience is the key when it comes to ghost hunting. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a beginner give up completely only because they were not patient enough. If you expect to get the results on your first ghost hunting trip then you might be massively disappointed.
Not every haunted location you will visit will guarantee you meeting a ghost. In fact, some of these locations are fake. Also, some ghosts take their time to get to know you before they reveal themselves.
Again, good things take time so please remember about being patient next time you plan to give up.
Education is another essential element of attracting ghosts successfully. You should spend some time reading books about afterlife, read some ghost hunting blogs and learn from other people’s experiences.
If you want to get good at something, then you have to educate yourself in order to prevent yourself from committing some newbie mistakes.
When I look at my knowledge when I first started compared to what it is now then I can see a massive progress.
I also look at the approach I had at the very beginning and know exactly why I failed initially. Education helps you to avoid frustration and save time so please don’t neglect this part.
I’ve just advised you to educate yourself but please keep in mind that knowledge means nothing if you don’t put it into practice over and over again.
You can spend ages watching theory but what works best is when you combine theory with practice. This is when you get a really powerful mix that gets you results a lot faster.
So how what’s the best way to practice?
Join a local ghost hunting community. This way, you can learn from people who have more experience and massively speed up the process. Again, please don’t focus on just getting value. Give back to your community too by sharing your own experiences.
Visit different haunted places. There is so many haunted locations you can choose from: hospitals, prions, graveyards, houses etc.
In fact, I’ve wrote this post about haunted prisons in Ohio that will give you some potential ideas.
Many people think that practicing regularly is too expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. You don’t need professional ghost hunting equipment if you’re just getting started and there are many haunted places you can visit for free.
By teaming up with your local ghost hunters, you can split the travel costs which makes the whole experience even more affordable.
Research the Haunted Place
If you want to attract the right ghosts then you should know where they reside. For this reason, it’s crucial to do thorough research of the haunted place that you plan to visit.
There will be different type of ghosts at a haunted hospital and different ones at a prison.
To increase your chances of succeeding, you should google a lot about the place you plan to visit so that you know it better than your own pockets.
Do Your Research on the Ghosts You Want to Reach
Should there be a specific ghost you’d like to attract then you should spend plenty of time researching just that very ghost. Talk with people who’ve seen him already, try to find some sources online etc.
This is similar to going to a job interview. You want to learn as much about the company as possible so that you can be prepared for any scenario.
Maybe the ghost is so popular there are books about him or it appeared in some photos.
A great way to conduct your research is to connect with the nearest ghost hunting group near the place where that ghost resides. Those people will be more likely to have seen him. They can be an incredible source of information.
I hate cliché advice but it actually applies here so there you go:
Think Outside the Box
As if ghost hunting wasn’t the most outside the box hobby already.
Ghost hunting requires not only patience, as mentioned before, but also an immense creativity. You have to quickly adapt to different scenarios that might happen during your ghost hunt and unconventional thinking will help you a lot.
Enhance Your Chances with Some Equipment
If you have so many to invest in ghost hunting equipment then you can always increasing your chances of drawing ghosts to you by getting a few items.
A few recommended items:
- A ghost hunting camera
- A High-quality flashlight
- Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP) Meter
- EMF Meter for ghost hunting
I’m working on preparing some reviews of the best equipment so stay tuned.
